Carly and Shane went to rival high schools, but grew up just five minutes away from each other in Cape May Court House. After college, when they both moved home to start job hunting, they reconnected and met up one night at The Princeton in Avalon. From there, their relationship bloomed into much more than just friendship.
Carly and Shane’s relationship eventually became long distance due to Shane getting a job in Philadelphia, then Delaware. The couple dealt with only seeing each other on the weekends for around two years before moving in together in September 2015. They fell in love with the town of West Chester, Pennsylvania and decided to call it their new home.
The following summer in 2016, Shane got down on one knee on the beach in Cape May while walking their dog (who was coincidentally dressed in a tuxedo). To Carly’s surprise, their family and friends were waiting for the newly engaged couple at a local restaurant to celebrate.
Growing up in the area, Carly and Shane decided their hometown was the perfect place to say “I Do.” They chose the First United Methodist Church of Cape May Court House as the place to exchange their vows, and were honored to have Pastor Rudy Sheptock of the Lighthouse Church officiate their ceremony. For the reception venue, the couple fell head-over-heels in love with the seashore-themed Yacht Club of Sea Isle City.
Before the wedding, Carly and Shane held their rehearsal dinner at Nino’s Family Restaurant, where everyone was welcomed with delicious Italian cuisine and warm hospitality.
All of Carly and Shane’s visions came true on their wedding day after a year and a half of planning. Once they tied the knot at the church, the new Mr. and Mrs. and their guests headed to the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for food, drinks, a sunset view and plenty of dancing.
