After being born and raised in Cape May County, Colleen moved to Buffalo, N.Y. to begin a PhD at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. While there, Colleen met Tim, and the two became fast friends when she learned that 1) Tim has a gorgeous golden retriever, and 2) he was a fan of her favorite movie, "Wet Hot American Summer." At the time, Tim had very long hair and a substantial beard, and he jokes that he and Colleen only started dating after he signed up to participate in Roswell Park Cancer Institute's Bald for Bucks fundraiser (in which he raised over $3,000 for cancer research and donated his hair to Locks of Love).
Once Colleen and Tim's relationship really blossomed, Tim decided to propose on the Fourth of July. As they were watching fireworks on the beach in Colleen's hometown, Ocean City, Tim got down on one knee – and best of all, the couple was surrounded by their family and friends from college who "just so happened" to be in town for a visit.
Naturally, Colleen and Tim chose to get married in Ocean City. Due to both of their rigorous programs at school, Colleen and Tim didn't make it to Ocean City very often, but when they did, Tim fell in love with Colleen's small yet charming hometown. Since Colleen's older sister was married in Alabama and now lives there, she and Tim knew it would mean so much to Colleen's parents if they were married in Ocean City and exchanged vows in the church she attended as a child.
Prior to the big day, Colleen and Tim held their rehearsal dinner at the Deauville Inn. Adding to the positive experience of many menu options and picturesque views of the bay, the friendly and attentive Deauville staff was very accommodating when rain moved the rehearsal dinner from the outside deck to the inside dining room.
When wedding day arrived, Great American Trolley Company provided a beautiful, vintage trolley, one of Colleen’s favorite parts of the day. Large enough to accommodate the couple’s wedding party of 16, everyone had a blast traveling to different photo destinations and taking photos inside the trolley itself.
After saying “I Do,” Colleen and Tim celebrated with family and friends at The Flanders Hotel, the reception taking place in the Candle Light Ballroom of this historic seaside location. Guests raved over the food and “Taste of the Boardwalk” dessert buffet, as well as the character of the building. “Being at The Flanders was like a dream,” Colleen says. “Growing up in Ocean City, The Flanders always seemed like the epitome of class and elegance, and the staff really delivered!”
Just two short weeks after Colleen and Tim's #WetHotAmericanWedding, Tim fulfilled a lifetime dream and began medical school at Penn State University.
