The Flanders Hotel, Ocean City

Dana and Jim met at a New Year's Eve party as they were saying farewell to 2013, but Jim was feeling shy and Dana wasn't looking to date until she finished her master's that summer. But once summer hit – and once Dana's friend Heather had convinced Jim into asking her out – they started dating, and the two quickly became inseparable.
Fast forward to 2015, and Dana and Jim had a trip to Disney World planned for that November. Jim knew Disney World was one of Dana's favorite places, and thought it would be the perfect place to propose. When Dana mentioned she'd always wanted to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table restaurant (located inside Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom) Jim knew just what to do. After dinner, Dana and Jim's server came over with a covered dish, and told Dana, "The chef has prepared something special for you." The server lifted the lid to reveal a glass slipper surrounded by rose petals. The next thing Dana knew, Jim was down on his knee. Of course, she said yes!
Dana, who grew up in Absecon, and Jim, who grew up in Cape May, both have fond memories of visiting Ocean City while growing up. Dana always knew she wanted to get married on the beach, and the couple agreed that the Flanders Hotel's vintage aesthetic (and convenient boardwalk location) was exactly what they were looking for.
Dana and Jim live in Philadelphia, so planning a wedding in Cape May County was a bit tricky at times. A lot of time was spend in the car going back and forth, but in the end, Dana shares that it was more than worth it to have a beautiful wedding by the beach.
On the big day, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with their plans to exchange vows to get married on the beach, which initially left Dana very upset. However, the Flanders transformed the ballroom into a gorgeous setting for them to say their vows, and it turned out to be even better than they imagined. Happily, the sun came out long enough for the couple to get some much-desired photos on the beach.
After surprising their guests with a choreographed first dance to Nat King Cole's "L-O-V-E," guests had a ball tearing up the dance floor, taking photos in the photo booth and eating tons of delicious food. One of the biggest hits was a nod to Ocean City – the "Taste of the Boardwalk" sampler featuring some of the boardwalk's most delicious treats, including funnel cake, fries and salt water taffy!
The newlyweds will soon be leaving for their delayed honeymoon in Japan.
