Erika and Matthew met on and realized during their first few email exchanges that they lived in the same complex just three streets away from each other. They decided to meet for the first time at Mediterra in Princeton, NJ for a drink, and the rest was history!

On Friday, March 14, 2014, it was Matt's turn to plan date night. He gave Erika no details on what they were doing except to “dress warm.” Erika and Matt drove into Princeton and parked in the garage near Palmer Square, and Erika knew instantly that they were going to have dinner at Mediterra, the scene of their first date. “I thought it was so sweet, because the only time we had been back was on my birthday two years prior,” says Erika. As Erika and Matt got out of the car, Matt explained that they were a little early for their reservation. Erika suggested going to the bar and grabbing a drink, but Matt said he would rather sit out on a bench in the patio garden and enjoy the beautiful night. They entered the patio garden, Matt got down on one knee and Erika’s heart skipped a beat. Erika was shocked, surprised and filled with emotions. Of course, she said yes, and she fell into Matt’s arms. The couple then called their parents and siblings to share the great news, and after a few moments suddenly remembered about their dinner reservation. They finally arrived at their table and to Erika’s surprise, she found two dozen roses and champagne. “It was the most perfect night ever!” says Erika.

By the next month, Erika and Matt had picked their wedding date – May 2, 2015. A planner wasn’t necessary since Erika is quite the planner by nature, and career! This was right in Erika’s wheelhouse and she could not wait to start planning. The day after the couple got engaged, Erika woke up to an email from her mother containing a wedding planning checklist; Erika’s mother was clearly excited as well! Erika had always carried a vision of how her wedding would be, so the planning process was just a matter of making her dreams a reality. She and Matt had discussed some major and minor wedding details before even getting engaged, and luckily they were both on the same page regarding likes and dislikes, things they wanted and things they would leave out.

On the big day, Erika and Matt exchanged vows on the beautiful beaches of Stone Harbor, and celebrated afterward with friends and family at the Windrift Hotel in Avalon.
