Cape May Convention Hall
Photographer: Hello, Gorgeous. Photography
Erin and Chris’s love story began on December 5, 2012, just four days after Erin moved from Cape May County to New York City. They met unexpectedly through their mutual best friends over happy hour drinks. Though their conversation was brief, it was clear they had a serious interest in each other (even though neither of them was looking for a relationship). The following Friday night, Erin, Chris and their friends met for drinks again. After hours of talking and really hitting it off, they took a walk to Madison Square Park and had a late dinner. From there, the rest was history.
In January 2016, right around Erin and Chris’s three-year anniversary, the two went on a vacation to West Palm Beach, Fla. with Erin's family. One night, Chris kept bugging Erin to go on an evening bike ride, so she finally agreed. While on their ride, he asked to stop and sit at a bench. He pulled out a gift, and Erin wasn't happy since they usually take trips instead of exchanging gifts. But she opened it anyway, and found a photobook designed by Chris containing chapters of photos from their first three years together. On the very last page, a handwritten note read, “Erin Elizabeth Laffey, will you marry me?” She looked up and was completely surprised to see Chris down on one knee holding a ring. She said yes, and they hopped on their bikes and rode back to the house where Erin's mom, dad and brother were waiting on the balcony with champagne. After an hour of phone calls and FaceTimes to share the news, they celebrated over dinner and drinks at a beautiful restaurant.
After vacation, Erin and Chris settled on the date of October 28, 2016 for their big day. With Erin being born and raised in Cape May County, she always knew she wanted to get married by the beach. Additionally, Chris had fallen in love with Cape May over the past few years, so having the wedding here was an easy decision. They ended up choosing Cape May Convention Hall as their venue. The travel back and forth from NYC to Cape May wasn't easy during the planning process, but it was well worth it!
Pre-wedding, Erin’s bridesmaids hosted a bridal shower for her at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, complete with dazzling Delaware Bay views.
When wedding day arrived, the couple was blessed with a beautiful, sunny October day. Great American Trolley Company transported Erin, Chris and the bridal party of 20 to the hall, which was covered in stunning flower arrangements handmade by Chris’s mother. Rental City completed the room with chivari chairs, linens, glassware and more. Erin and Chris exchanged vows on the oceanfront wrap around porch, Erin wearing a lace gown from Tesi Bridal & Formal with rhinestone embellishments, beaded trims and sequin accents. They then celebrated with delicious food and lots of drinks provided by Washington Inn Catering, plus a perfectly sweet cake baked by A Piece of Cake. The dance floor was packed the entire night just like Erin and Chris wanted, creating memories and special moments to last a lifetime.
