Isaac Smith Vineyard, Cape May

Lauren and Matt were both born and raised in Cape May County and have known each other since elementary school. Throughout the years they became good friends, but it wasn't until college that they became even closer and eventually started dating.
After seven years of dating, Matt finally decided to pop the question. While on vacation in one of their favorite places, Marathon in the Florida Keys, Matt and some friends suggested taking a sunset boat ride. Before Lauren knew it, the sun was fading and Matt was down on one knee with a diamond ring sitting in a heart-shaped oyster shell. Matt owns and operates the local oyster farm South Bay Shellfish Co., so this proposal was only appropriate.
As they began their wedding planning, Lauren and Matt struggled between two locations: Cape May or the Florida Keys. Being natives of Cape May County, the couple decided to stay local so all of their family and friends could be a part of their special day. They chose Isaac Smith Vineyard in Cape May as their venue, enchanted by the large rustic barn, beautifully landscaped grounds and rows of grape vines. From there, the vendor choices were easy. Lauren works part time for Washington Inn Catering and knew that they were the only catering choice! Washington Inn Catering helped them create a unique menu which included three stations of Lauren and Matt’s favorite foods: tacos, mini cheesesteaks and assorted sliders. Rental City assisted in making the couple’s wedding dreams come true by providing the tent, tables, chairs, silverware, kitchen and catering equipment, generator and lighting. For the flowers, a family friend and the owner of Blooms created gorgeous floral designs for the big day. From the centerpieces, to the bouquets, to the wreaths, to the boutonnieres, the flowers were Lauren and Matt’s favorite part of the planning process. And the most important part of the planning process…the dress! With a beautiful selection of gowns and friendly bridal consultants, Lauren said yes to a Calla Blanche dress at TESI Bridal & Formal.
The wedding day was everything Lauren and Matt had envisioned. The weather, sunny and 75, made for the perfect September day for an outdoor wedding. The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s best friend, Rev. Kev, in front of the barn as family and friends listened to Lauren and Matt exchange handwritten vows. After, the party got started with cocktail hour around the pool deck as guests were treated to passed hors d’oeuvres and an oyster bar. The celebration continued in a tent next to the scenic pond, where everyone danced the night away and the three-year-old ring bearer, Ryan, serenaded guests with his favorite song. There was no lack of memorable moments shared that night, a night that Lauren and Matt will reminisce about for years to come.
