David Rodriguez rose in the dark of night to awaken his longtime girlfriend Shannon Tomes. He wanted her to catch the sunrise over North Wildwood’s Second Street Beach. That particular stretch of sand has a very special meaning for Shannon and her family: it’s where they spread the ashes of her late mother.

On this auspicious day, however, as the sun rose, Shannon caught a glimpse of a wooden sign she hadn’t seen before. The sign read, “Will you marry me?” David, a general contractor in Philadelphia, purposely and thoughtfully placed the sign in that spot so he could include Shannon’s mother in his proposal.

This shore-loving couple knew they wanted to marry somewhere at the beach. Several friends recommended the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for the event. One visit and they knew it was the place for them.

“We had one other shore venue booked to tour but canceled it since we knew the Yacht Club was a perfect fit for us,” Shannon says. “The views and the atmosphere are amazing and made it so easy to envision getting married there!”

The Yacht Club’s Assistant General Manager and Events Coordinator Caitlin Mulholland effuses that this waterfront location offers couples remarkable picturesque moments, thanks to its stunning views of the inter- coastal waterway, and a plethora of other opportunities for one-of-a-kind wedding photos. She adds that couples who choose to celebrate their special day at the club can expect a professional and dedicated staff, delicious cuisine and truly spectacular surroundings.

“Our passionate and professional staff delights in helping couples host unforgettable occasions,” says Mulhollan. “Sunset portraits on the dock are always a favorite of our wedding couples.”

Though couples do not have to be current members of the Yacht Club, associate memberships are offered for those wishing to wed there. Couples are provided a private bridal suite to enjoy appetizers and a moment of reflection before joining guests for the evening. And prior to the bigger party, guests can enjoy cocktail hour on the wrap around deck that overlooks the bay.

The reception takes place in the light-and-airy main dining room, with its large, open windows, lofty ceilings, and tranquil blue and white tones. After- parties can take place in the Crow’s Nest upstairs.

Guests of the Rodriguezes raved about how wonderful the food, cocktails and atmosphere were, and commented on how polite and attentive the wait and bar staff were. The latter was particularly meaningful to Shannon, who works in the service industry.

Shannon claims that their experience at the Yacht Club, with Mulholland’s guiding hand and a staff that was welcoming and patient, was “nothing short of amazing.”
“The feedback we received made us so happy with our decision to book the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City!”
