The Overlook at Stowaways

September 20, 2025

When Stowaways took over food and beverage operations at the Cape May-
Lewes Ferry Terminal in 2025, they really wanted to highlight the venue for weddings, as it is truly one of the more unique waterfront locations in the area.

Located directly on the Delaware Bay with full, sweeping water views, Cape May’s newest culinary and event destination is built right into the ferry terminal and provides a stunning venue to say “I do.”

Stowaways blends coastal chic and modern design to create an elegant event venue. But it’s “The Overlook at Stowaways,” situated above the main restaurant, that seals the deal for wedding-venue seekers. With space for 75 guests, high ceilings and panoramic bay views, it’s a setting that turns every ceremony and reception into a veritable work of art.

The Stowaways team collaborates closely with couples to design personalized menus, from fresh seafood and locally sourced entrees to create hors d’oeuvres and desserts that match the spirit of the Jersey Shore.

“We pride ourselves that this is not a cookie-cutter locale,” said Khali Hansen, event coordinator at Stowaways. “This is a very unique venue, and our staff is exceedingly accommodating when it comes to design, food and beverage. We will tailor the event to the bride and groom’s specifications. We want to help them fully customize everything for their special day.”

Convenience of parking and Insta-worthy photo ops are built in thanks to the ferry terminal accessibility and the venue’s waterfront location. Access to many different areas of the terminal is also key to weddings here, which are held year-round. Aside from the spectacular Overlook for the reception, The Gallery is where the bride and her party may get ready, the dock serves as the ceremony spot, the Sunset Patio is for the private cocktail hour, and The Green is for partygoers to meet and mingle on the lawn, dock and boardwalk. Fun fact: corn hole can be set up on The Green for guests to enjoy.

“Right now, this is a hidden gem in Cape May,” said Hansen. “We’re working hard to change that. Our couples who have seen what we offer, not just in food and beverage, but also with the incredible view, are thrilled with their decision to hold their special day at this very different location.”
