Weddings in Cape May are the stuff of seaside dreams—classic Victorian charm,
crisp ocean breezes and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. At the heart of this destination wedding scene is Cape May Convention Hall, one of the more unique and flexible venues in the region. With an oceanfront setting, indoor and outdoor spaces, spacious ballroom, and welcoming attitude toward custom weddings, Convention Hall offers couples a standout venue that blends seaside romance with the freedom to personalize every detail.

First and foremost, Convention Hall stands out for its beachfront location – in fact, it is the only wedding venue in Cape May that is situated directly on the beach. The venue gives couples the rare opportunity to blend a seaside ceremony with the convenience of an event space that accommodates receptions, dinners and dancing all under one roof. The hall’s Beachfront Ballroom boasts large, floor-to-ceiling windows that frame expansive, panoramic ocean views and tons of natural light. Couples can exchange vows outdoors on the deck overlooking the sand or indoors, should the weather prove unpredictable.

The ballroom can host up to 380 guests, making it one of the larger wedding spaces in Cape May. However, couples can also use drapes or partitions to create a cozier feel for smaller weddings without sacrificing elegance.

For many couples, having the freedom to personalize every detail of the celebration is a top priority. That’s where Convention Hall truly shines. Unlike many venues that require couples to choose from a set of in-house vendors, couples getting married at Convention Hall bring in their own vendors for catering, photography, florals, music, and more.

“We’re a blank canvas for couples,” says Rachel Ertle, assistant director of civic affairs, tourism and marketing at Cape May Convention Hall. “Couples really like that. They can choose their own food and beverage, entertainment, floral vendors, and more. This really allows couples to feel unlimited. Their vision can really come to life here.”

Convention Hall couples have designed their own custom floral arrangements and decorations to create budget-friendly design elements. Some have organized gatherings where family and friends help with setup, décor and other details, such as custom signage to signature drinks named after pets. This hands-on involvement can turn a wedding day into a fully personal experience that showcases the couple’s personality each step of the way.

For couples seeking a venue that captures both elegant views and freedom in planning and design, Convention Hall stands out as a special choice in South Jersey.
